Can verme, göz kaybetme, zehirlenme ve geleceklerinin fişlenmesine karşın yaptılar bunu...

MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK'S ADDRESS TO TURKISH YOUTH

Turkish Youth!  Your first duty is to preserve and to defend Turkish Independence and the Turkish Republic forever. This is the very foundation of your existence and your future.  This foundation is your most precious treasure.  In the future, too, there may be malevolent people at home and abroad, who will wish to deprive you of this treasure.  If some day you are compelled to defend your independence and your Republic,  you must not hesitate to weigh the possibilities and circumstances of the situation before doing your duty.  These possibilities and circumstances may turn out to be extremely unfavourable.  The enemies conspiring against your independence and your Republic may have behind them a victory unprecedented in the annals of the world.  It may be that, by violence and trickery, all the fortresses of your beloved fatherland may be captured, all its shipyards occupied, all its armies dispersed and every corner of th...

Impressions of my journey and my trying to understand the culture and the system a little bit better:

Actually I visited Istanbul, but the really first overwhelming moment concerning the system for me was in Ankara, where it opened my eyes and I could see turkish people and structures differently. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the father of the turks after the ottoman empire. He founded the turkish republic and made amazing reforms in almost every kind we can imagine. Women rights, religion (secularism), education, language, alphabet,... Under the influence of European humanism, and "Aufklärung" - which had never been possible in certain islamic countries, he built up a proud, new and advanced country. An openminded democracy instead of violent Sultanism in between of countries which still lived in this kind of system.  After 1. world war lots of things changed and so a lot of politicians felt betrayed and didn´t want to continue the development, introduced by him.  Now, prime minister Erdogan seems to have the wish to be a new Sultan and with the usual nepotism he obviou...

1st of June was unforgetable!

Image
1st of June, early morning...  People came to Beşiktaş from Kadıköy by feet... (from Asian side to European side)  Then they were exposed to tear gas (harder).  Meanwhile Mr. Erdoğan decided to allow the CHP protest-march on the streets and then the police retreated from Taksim, just for a few hours.  By the way: More than 1 million people were part of the big walk to Taksim. They came from Beşiktaş, Mecidiyeköy, Karaköy, and Tarlabaşı.  The areas Beşiktaş, Taksim, Harbiye and Gümüşsuyu were crowded - full of people.  Everyone recognized that its not only about Topçu Kışlası (AKP's project for Gezi Park), everyone felt it´s about much more. At 1st of June, In Beşiktaş:  Tear gas attacks against protesters, rubber-bullet guns and also the riot control vehicle (TOMA) was used by the police Police to set us under pressure and serious danger.  So many people walked Beşiktaş from Taksim for help and support them. Late night thi...

Meeting with tear gas

Image
I can't forget the first day on which we had to breathe tear gas from police the first time. I thought I am going to die and this was really the fist time i felt like that.  Ten thousands of people met on Istiklal Street that night... My first day..  I was next to the square on the street next to McDonalds. Police´s riot control vehicles (TOMA´s) were already prepared and waiting in front of the french consulate. Every kind of people you can imagine were there:  students, elder people, children, families their pets,– all together. Suddenly, one of tear gas capsule hit the floor about 1 meter away from me.  You know McDonalds's side street.  It has a little shop first at the beginning of road and because of this you have to pass to a narrow road first.  Now try to imagine that the thousands of people starting to run away from there.  No one who have not been in such a situation before and experienced what we felt, can´t even ima...

Hİ FROM ISTANBUL!

Image
Hello friends!  I'm one of chapullers from Istanbul. I'm on streets since May 30. I spent 17 days in Gezi Park.   Btw I have never been any protest except from ' Don't Touch My Internet ' protests.  I did not support any political party.  I have also not any connection with political organisation. I start to write on this blog for telling about my experiences  and  what i feel between these hard days. Stay with peace and love! ----------
